LEJOG 2011 plans

I met Chappers when we walked the desert in 2008 in aid of Jigsaw4u, a children’s bereavement charity.
Richard is one person I wish I would have never met, this is because the only reason we did meet was because of events in 2005, Richard lost his dad in February and I lost my sister in June, both to Cancer. But I am so glad we did meet. As we have remained great friends since.

Now after doing one Charity expedition and after putting lands end to John o Groats into Google maps after an evening of feeling down and chatting to Richard on msn. We decided, why not. Let’s organise this together and do it for a worthwhile cause (currently undecided). Now we have a plan in place to walk the approximate 1,111 miles over a period of approximately three months in summer 2011.

Why?

I first met Rhys in 2008. We both were participating in the Youth Expedition Sinai 2008. We both were on the trek for a similar reason, we both had suffered a bereavement. I lost my Father to Cancer in 2005 and Rhys lost his sister to Cancer also in 2005. We both have suffered a loss at a young age, this helped bring us together very close as friends. After completing the 2 week long, 150km trek in July 08, we both remained great friends.

Recently a thought came to my mind of the idea of walking from Lands End to John O'Groats. I had no idea why the thought arrived but I knew straight away it was something I wanted to do for myself and for a good cause. I hadn't thought too much on the subject but yesterday Rhys recently was feeling down and I suggested the idea to him and he took to it with huge optimism. As of last night we have been researching into this a lot and we have decided:
